Richard Bell

Richard Bell is an active member of the community and the real estate profession, playing a vital leadership role in the market. His credits include:

  • 2009-2011 President, Preservation of Historic Winchester (Board of Directors since 2007) 
  • 2007 Chairman of the Winchester/Frederick County Economic Development Commission
  • 2008 Chairman of the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber of Commerce (TVRC). 
  • Eight years on the Board of Architectural Review (last four as Chairman)
  • Active membership in the Winchester/Frederick County Industrial Parks Association (including serving as president).
  • 2006 Blue Ridge Association of Realtors Award for Community Service. 

Richard served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve, and retired from the Civil Engineer Corps after 22 years of commendable service. He joined The Adams Companies in 1997 as Director of Real Estate Development. In 2000, the company was named to Virginia Business Magazine's Fantastic 50 (fastest growing companies in Virginia). In 2001, the company received the Vanguard Award (the highest overall growth of a privately held company).  Richard was appointed Principal Broker of Adams-Nelson & Associates, Inc. in 2006.  He holds a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia with a concentration in Urban and Environmental Planning.

 

RICHARD’S SUCCESS STORIES

Richard and Robert Spigner co-brokered the sale of the Historic Coca-Cola Bottling Facility located at 1720 Valley Avenue, Winchester, VA. The building, consisting of 32,310 SF on 1.27 acres, was purchased by an investment group who plans to rehabilitate and revitalize the facility into professional office space. The sale required the assistance of one of Richard’s associates, a local historian.

Richard and Michael Foster successfully co-brokered the sale of the Travelodge located at Exit 313 of I-81 in Winchester, VA. The facility, which sits on 3 acres and has 148 rooms plus banquet facilities for a total of 77,664 SF, was sold to an investment partnership.

Richard facilitated the sale of 12.30 acres of M-1 commercial land at the intersection of Route 37 and I-81 in Kernstown, VA. The property was sold to an investment group for a regional FedEx Distribution Center.

One of the more complex deals that Richard brokered was the sale of the AT&T Data Switching Station located on Route 11 in Middletown, VA. The 73,000 SF facility was purchased by an investment group. This deal was co-brokered with J. Michael Foster and Jim McLaurin.
